Weather Update
JUNE is here!!! This means HOT weather and plenty of sunshine.
GORGEOUS! Absolutely, gorgeous weather.
Sizzling HOT!
I cant wait to get outdoors with my favorite Grands and visit the duck pond, zoo, aquarium, the parks, etc....
The Grands are here in Albuquerque but I want Sarah to be able to get updates on the same old things happening around here. So, the blog continues. I hope to get some good pics of the Grands soon. I ordered a new digital camera for a better quality of pics. The old cam I have seems to make everything dark, bad flash action. I have a video cam but its not as handy as it says...Handy Cam, you aint handy. LOL.
I have been enjoying eating the lettuce and the spinach from the garden house. So far, Ive shared 2 bags of spinach with a neighbor. Im on the second clipping of the spinach and I just filled up the spinach container in the fridge. Ive probably mentioned this before but as a reminder you can easily grow lettuce, spinach, chives and sprouts indoors. You can even regrow Romaine lettuce. Check link here. Remember to change the water out each day.
The basil in the garden is amazing and growing great. It taste really good too. Spaghetti, tomato sauce, parmigiano cheese, and fresh basil makes a beautiful Italian dish to serve up for dinner. Recipe here.
The beans and squash need to get going. Im not patient and Im ready to see some tiny squash and beans make an appearance. There are plenty of male blossoms on the squash but no sign of female squash. I know, more waiting needed. The leaves on the squash look very healthy. Im dreaming of zucchini bread. Anyways, I know some people like to grow giant zucchini but I guess its best to harvest the zucchini when its skin is still glossy. I did not know that. I still love to see the giant zucchinis grown by my friends. I hope all my friends post pics of their giant zucchinis this summer.
Thats a lot of Zucchini bread waiting to happen! LOL.
See Nana's Top Recipes for a super moist and yummy Zucchini Bread Recipe.
The tomato plants are flowering and have tiny, tiny, tiny tomatoes growing. Very exciting development. LOL.
Georgie has a cherry tomato plant to give me that is to produce orange cherry tomatoes. I have to get down there and claim it before Carmen gets it. LOL. I only have five tomato plants. Six if I get one from Georgie. How many tomato plants should one grow? This guy on the Internet said he always planted 15 tomato plants in case some did not produce and that leads me to think I am flying by the seat of my skirt with 5-6 tomato plants. Errrrrrrrrrr.
Pet Update
Spoiled and overly loved that is what you will find at my house. All the pets are doing great. The fish tank crew are happy as could be. Specially on the days when this old lady cant remember if she fed them in the morning and gives them a double dose of fish pellets. LOL. Tuck has been UV light bathing a lot lately. I'm glad to see that. Although, he drives me crazy. I put the bigger stone in and set the old bathing stone to the side of it for a step up...and now he prefers his old stone. Ughhhhhh, Its okay, because both are under the light. Crazy turtle. Sometimes I catch him up on the big stone but most of the time he like his old UV light bathing stone. Man. Missy has been out all day and night. The heat is so hot outside. I am guessing she has found true love, or another home. LOL. She comes in and eats a tiny bit of tuna and then heads back out to the wild. Skinny Ding Dongs, AKA Pedro the traitor rushes across the street over to me when he sees me come out to the front yard to water the dirt lawn and what plants have survived the heat. He was missing for a while but has returned for his half of the tuna. Wheezy is once again driving Mauricio to the point of insane with all his loud squawking. I actually had to put Wheezy in time out for rude squawking. He is an angry bird. LOL. What happen to the pretty bird singing? Oh well.
This week the A/C was flowing and the house is nice and cool. I did do some fancy stuff in the kitchen. I made mozzarella cheese. One gallon of milk turned out one big block of cheese. Today, I shredded it and will make pizza this weekend. Also, I baked up a batch of my favorite....MUFFINS. LOL. I made mulberry muffins and took some over to Georgie and Carmen. I guess they were good because they wiped them out. Joseph had one today and said they were the best I ever made??? I have no clue what he meant by that but I guess that was a compliment. I did get out the ravioli maker and made cheese ravioli. Its a lot of work but its so much fun. You put on the Dean Martin Italian music and that seems to make it even more fun. So, I ate ravioli for about three days. I laughed because Raven came over to stay the night and for dinner she asked for Ravioli. Well, that was just not possible. NOOOOOO! NOT RAVIOLI! LOL.
