This week at Nana's

Sarah and the Grands have moved back to Albuquerque, New Mexico!

Weather Update
September is ? !
Summer has ended.
The mornings here in Albuquerque have been a bit brisk and the days have been warm and wonderful. Daily, I make time to sit outside on the porch and enjoy the peace. I just take it all in.  Im thankful for the day that God has made.

This is the part where we sing along to "God Bless America." LOL.

I have been awaiting for the big event of the year for the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Balloon Fiesta! Soon, we "Burques" will see hundreds of balloons in the skies. I have my cameras and I am ready to take pictures. The only thing I do not like is getting up at 4 am to get to the Balloon Fiesta Park. The traffic is brutal. Sometimes, balloons fly right over the house and I live near downtown which is far from the balloon park. Last year, a balloon landed near the house and that was awesome to see. Sarah, the Grands and whomever else wants to go, we are planning a morning at our "secret balloon watching spot" with hot cocoa and of course breakfast burritos.

Garden Plants And Outdoors Update

The garden is winding down and the nights have been cooling off.
The garden season has just about finished. I took pictures of the squash on 09/30/14. The squash is blooming giant blossoms and squash is growing but... I think the cold may end up getting the squash before it can finish the season. The cherry tomatoes are still going strong. The herbs are still growing good too. I need to cut the chives this week. The outside garden is ending but I have plans to continue growing veggies in the house. I have the perfect small containers and will start this project soon. I'm looking forward to not battling the weather, bugs and small animals. As seen in my July blog, the peppers were left to grow in the house and have done well. I'm growing jalapenos and green chile plants. My friends Mona and Joe G gave me a bag full of jalapenos from their garden and those were super HOT.

Pet Update
All the pets are doing great. Mauricio has been out of his comfy home to visit with Sarah, Eve and Raven. He sure enjoys the treats and getting his hair combed. Mr. Tubbs and the tank gang are happy too. Tuck the turtle has been very entertaining and continues his meager attempts to escape from his house.(There is a small hole on the side of his aquarium for the water filter). "You silly turtle you are never going to fit through there! Buwhahaha!" Let's see, Zander, the little fish in the bowl is getting fed extra because I don't have the heart to tell the Grands that they cant feed him because I had fed him already. Oh well. Wheezy is quiet and cold. I had to put blankets on his house, due to the weather change. The house is really cold in the morning. Missy the cat is still around. She see the Grands and high tails it outside. She is a scardy cat. LOL. The other night, I thought it was going to rain, so... I let Missy stay in and put her in my room. Big mistake. All night she woke me up, "Hey are you sleeping?"

Yes! Things are looking good around this neighborhood. Our three nameless neighbors, who love to fill their front yards up with trash and grow weeds up to their hips, cleaned their yards! Hurray!!! It was miraculous, they each did it in one weekend. Somebody around here called 311 and it was not me. I don't do that to people. But it was nice to see them clean up. the house next to me has a huge sign, FOR SALE. I felt bad for them because they want a lot of money for their home but the neighbors made us look bad. I thought to myself, For Sale Forever. Deep down I don't want them to move because they are nice, quiet, elderly, kind, quiet, and friendly, oh, and quiet. I have to confess, when I see people come to see their house I have thoughts of sabotage. I know its wrong. I just cant help it.

I have been doing some canning. This year, I have been jarring up salsa, because I have run out of room in the freezer for chile. Recently, I canned 40 jars of my favorite medium hot green chile salsa. Salsa goes pretty fast around here. Next week, I will make the extra hot salsa batch. I guess the extra hot is a favorite of my friends. That salsa is like fire in our mouths and it makes us cry but we keep eating it.

I have been baking a variety of bake goods, now that the Grands are back in Albuquerque. Ive made a lot of brownies, which seem to be their favorite, along with the traditional cupcakes and cakes. They seem to get eaten before I can get a picture and that's okay. Both the grand girls are in school and I try to see them once or twice a week.
My beautiful daughter Sarah and youngest grand Raven and a giant dragon.

Eldest grand Eve and her beautiful red hat.
